  • Sun 20th Sep 2020 - 1:00pm

Norton Antivirus is widely used software that plays an important role in securing and protecting your computer. It is built by Symantec Computer Systems. Despite performing an important function in your system, it has been reported that this program is causing many errors. It is highly suggested that if you start having problems then you uninstall it immediately from your computer. By doing this, you can rectify the errors caused by this software and prevent other possible problems caused by this program in your system. Two techniques can be applied to remove Norton from your computer completely. This can be done through manual removal or the use of automated tools that will perform the task for you automatically. Of the two methods, the best option is automatic uninstall of the software as it can quickly eliminate all traces of Norton antivirus programs.

Manual removal method: To use the manual method, the initial step is to uninstall Norton via the "Add / Remove Programs".

You can start from here: go to "Control Panel" and click "Start" and then select "Add / Remove Programs". For those using Windows Vista and 7, choose "Start" and then click "Control Panel" and then choose "Uninstall a Program".

These steps will enable you to see the "Add / Remove Programs" applet on your screen.

Go ahead by ticking the Norton Antivirus application and do the things mentioned in the instructions.

But this program may have left some files behind and it is important to ensure that you remove the so-called remaining files and settings. You can perform this by pressing "Start" and then going to "My Computer". Next this, pick "C: / Program Files /" and look for the files that the software has left behind. Once you find these files, tick the folder and click SHIFT + DELETE to ensure permanent removal from your computer. To complete the process, reboot your PC.

Automatic removal method: Automatic removal, as noted above, is the more guaranteed successful method of uninstalling this file and can be done by downloading automated tools such as the highly recommended "Final Uninstaller". Once downloaded, you will need to install the software on your computer. Then click 'Scan' and proceed. A list of programs will appear in "Installed Programs" and from here select Norton by marking the box to the left. Then push "Clean" to remove this program from your system.

The last step is to make sure that you run a registry cleaning program to clean the registry. The registry is the central database where all relevant files, settings and options and information are stored. Windows reads the files required to run smoothly through this database. The registry is often corrupted, damaged, infected, or cluttered. When this happens, various problems and errors can arise. If you are uninstalling a file then it needs to be cleaned as these files can still be kept in this registry. To do this, download a registry cleaner tool from the Internet and let it run in your computer so that all problems and errors can be eliminated and prevented in future.
